Turkey Trot 5K Las Vegas. Boulder City, Lake Mead, NV

Turkey Trot 5K Las Vegas. Boulder City, Lake Mead, NV

Happy Thanksgiving from the Quinterribles. The Quinterribles family tradition continues in 2017, as we visit Lake Mead in Boulder City, NV for the Turkey Trot 5k run. Being people who are not fit, we opted for the one mile stroll, as we kept ourselves hungry for Thanksgiving dinner. Check out the natural beauty of Lake Mead, and Boulder City. We then return home for a huge dinner with a gorgeous turkey. We are so grateful for everything, including our family, our vlog and you, our viewers.

A yearly Thanksgiving tradition with the Quinterribles, is to do the Turkey Trot Run, held in Boulder City, Nevada near Las Vegas. Some years we will do the actual run, but this year we opted for the one-mile stroll instead. The run begins after a quarter-mile hike down the hill, at the Hoover Dam Lodge, and has several lengths depending on your running ability. For those who do the longer races, they go directly to Hoover Dam on their run. We walked for a short period, turned around and finished. We then ate the snack foods and received medals.

From their website, BBSCRun.com: “Tired of the racing without views? Lake Mead National Recreation Area is 18 miles from the Las Vegas Strip and boasts amazing views of the largest man-made lake, on the Historic Railroad Trail, now part of the Rail-to-Trails Conservancy and the National Park Service. The Half Marathon and 12K will run all the way to the Hoover Dam overlook and experience a historic and scenic course.

This route take you on a paved asphalt trail. No steep climbs here, but there is a gradual incline that was once used to haul supplies to Hoover Dam in the early thirties. The entire elevation gain is 497 feet. On the way to Hoover Dam, the Half Marathon and 12K runners will pass through six (6) tunnels on this course in each direction. The Half turnaround is located on the top level of the new parking lot with great views of both Hoover Dam and the new Colorado River Bridge. This is a spectator friendly event, so bring your family. There is no vehicular traffic on this course, so breathe easy and let your legs carry you for miles on this beautiful and historic course.”

When we’re on that side of town, we strongly recommend, that you visit Dutch Bros Coffee. They have a drive-thru coffee shop which makes amazing drinks of all kinds, and we are in love.

Since it was Thanksgiving, we celebrated with family, and truly appreciate all of our blessings and all of the things we have. It has been an interesting end of the year, but we will continue to be grateful.
